The distance education system, which has been continuing in schools since the end of March 2020, has caused many psychological and medical disorders such as behavioral disorders, weight gain, visual disturbances, burnout syndrome in children.
In this article, I wanted to explain the negativities experienced due to the inability of children to adapt to distance education and give advice. With the spread of the coronavirus, there has been a transition to distance education in schools since March. We all know that children experience adaptation problems with the transition to distance education, so I wanted to mention the difficulties experienced. It is worth mentioning that children are always on the internet and it is not possible to control the content on the internet; We can say that children have behavioral disorders, weight gain, and visual disturbances.

'CHILDREN ARE UNDER STRESS'

If we talk about the reasons why children stay away from education in quarantine:
1. During the quarantine period, the only difference in education is not its distance.
2. They are aware of the fact that children do not attend under conditions where they are accustomed to education and that there is an epidemic like Covid that affects the whole world.
3. While some families try to explain this situation to their children as accurately as possible, some children may be dragged into great anxiety and fear with the little information they hear around.
4. They are under severe stress when they are restricted from even going out and playing games.
5. At the same time, distance education is a system that teachers and our education system are just familiar with and learn by experience.
6. It would not be realistic to expect children to adapt immediately.
7. Therefore, the main reason why children stay away from education in quarantine is that they have to cope with the stress of the epidemic while trying to adapt psychologically to conditions they are not accustomed to.

'NO EQUAL OPPORTUNITY'

In quarantine, there may be distancing due to the lack of visible follow-up, the long-term stay away from sociality in the same environment, and physical and psychological problems.
Beyond all these, there are also problems regarding compliance with the principle of equal opportunity. Failure to fully solve infrastructure problems such as computers, smartphones, internet connections at home, and having working conditions in the same environment due to having more than one sibling can be considered as reasons. I can point out that personality disorders occur in children due to their dealing with tools such as computers and internet, and I can explain the reasons as follows:
I can say that there are many studies that prove the negative effects of children using tools such as computers and tablets more than necessary; There are two factors that come to my mind that can cause this:
The first is the harmful issues and actions in games,
The second is that it is almost impossible to control harmful content they may encounter on the internet. Violent games are especially popular. Even if acts of violence are in the form of animation, they can be normalized in the eyes of children. Virtual reality in games can negatively affect the perception of reality, which was formed in early childhood. There may be noticeable differences in social skills between children of technology age and children who used to play games with their peers in the neighborhood with developmental actions such as role-play and physical activity. If we repeat that it is very difficult to control the content that children may encounter on the Internet; At any time, they may encounter countless content that includes violence, sexuality, and negative exemplary behavior. Internet use of children should be reviewed, especially during this pandemic period. There is a great information pollution that can be too much for children about the epidemic. News sources that can cause traumatic effects on the child and cause negative emotions are widespread on the internet. The solution to these, of course, cannot be to prevent internet usage. Because these children were born into a world where the internet is at the center of life, and they need to learn to use the internet in the right way at the right time. Therefore, the damage to child psychology should be minimized by getting help from a professional.


"BEHAVIOR DISORDERS MAY BE EXPERIENCED"

Informing that children may be exposed to computer, internet for a long time, asociality, tendency to violence, internet addiction, inadequate self-care skills, anger outbursts due to the deterioration in nutrition and sleep,
Being in a virtual environment for a long time may also cause children to have difficulty in separating the real and virtual and situations such as loss of reality.
It is useful to warn that personality and / or behavioral disorders may occur after placing the characters he sees as heroes in his own self and personality, starting to act as the characters he admires, and not being able to distinguish between imitation and reality.
